AI & Us
Here we are, a few years into AI, and so many of us see all these AI courses flying all over the place, we see AI videos being created by our friends, we see them when we are “doom scrolling”… they are everywhere.
We use AI when we have questions and we use AI when we want to impress. I even know of people using ChatGPT in their businesses and I see people relying solely on those tools to summarise and beautify their thoughts, their ideas and their words FOR them.
But here is the thing… Often, people simply rely on one piece of information, they read one opinion, see one article about something, and they believe it summarily.
What has happened to critical thinking and doing a little bit of research? This has been proven to be a necessity before digesting and processing any new information when we navigate Facebook and Google, and yet, with the coming of AI, all of that has disappeared once again and what we now see, is pure chaos on social media for instance where so much nonsense are being accepted as truth.
What do I mean? I mean, when you ask ChatGPT a question, it invariably gives you an answer, right? How often do we simply accept that answer and use it as a definite?
Too often.
And guess what? AI makes mistakes all the time. If you push back, it will always agree with you, and it keeps on trying to placate the user.
AI might be a few years old and might be really cool, but it still has a long way to go. And with all its coolness and smartness, it still cannot hold a candle to the human brain. After all, human brains came up with AI!
So for all of us ‘ordinary folks’, I believe we should never neglect our own brains, we should keep exercising it, keep trying our own unique ideas and thoughts and keep feeding it in the right way. Yes, AI is convenient, but so is Fast Food and we all know what happens to the body when it only consumes Fast Food, right?
As for replacing humans in the work place… well, that is another post that will be coming soon! So watch this space!
